SINHALA NUMERALS-SITULPAVU INSCRIPTION


Situlpavu in situated deep in the South of the Island and is motor-able from Kataragama. The inscription is at the foot of the rock and to the right of the flight of steps to the Dagobo. It has many ancient sinhala numerals. These are shwon above.

The English translation of the inscription which details out the lands donated to the temple.Each plot of land is given in Karisha an ancient Land measure which is denoted by a symbol and the extent in sinhala numerals, the location identified by a Village or town, the Tanks and Canals that irrigate it is spelled out etc.
